The CRC workshop, organized in cooperation with the CEU Medieval Studies department and Religious Studies program, intends to deal with the recently very important trends of international historical research towards the visual culture of the past.

It will focus on the use and meanings of images and the various symbolic aspects of visual representation. Special emphasis will be placed on the context of images with religious space and, particularly, on the supernatural and its role in visual communication.
