South Eastern Europe and the EU Leadership Development Programme
A New Initiative by the College of Europe and the TRANSFUSE Association – July 2006 – April 2007
The future of South Eastern Europe depends on targeted and consistent action to develop effective civic structures and integrate the region into Euro-Atlantic political, economic and security spheres. The driving force behind the continuing reforms and the transition process are qualified young professionals with international experience.
In an effort to support the integration process of the region, the TRANSFUSE Association and the College of Europe are launching a Leadership Development Programme for young people from the countries of South Eastern Europe as well as their counterparts from the rest of the Europe and the United States who can be expected to play a significant role in the future of their countries.
Main features of the Programme
The programme will last one year and include:
a.. A two-week Summer Academy in Germany (17-30 September 2006) – the curriculum will include topics related to the European Union, the development of relations between the EU and South Eastern Europe, wider issues of international and economic relations and training of practical skills such as negotiations, project management and presentation;
b.. Three-day Workshop in Bruges and Brussels in April 2007, with visits to the European Union institutions and the NATO;
c.. Joint activities and projects, where the participants will be asked to work together in small groups in developing and implementing the activities in their countries.
