Doctoral Fellowships – strategic university research programme for Scenario-based Approach to Risk Analysis of Ship Collision and Grounding – ScenaRisC&G
A Strategic University Research Programme for advancement of scenario-based approach to risk analysis of ship collision and grounding has been established at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Department of Marine technology. The Programme has major funding from the Research Council of Norway during the period 2005-2009.
Applications are invited for
Doctoral fellowships – with duration of 3 years (up to 2 positions)
The research will be directed towards:
. Manoeuvring of ships, uncontrolled or semi-controlled drifting of ships – real time simulations and fast-time simulations with auto-pilots mimicking pilot actions
. Damage analysis of ship bottom and side structures, based on nonlinear finite element method and simplified (plastic analysis) methods
. Ultimate strength of hull girder with damage caused by collision and grounding
. Prediction of cargo spill due to ruptured tanks
See the website for further information.
The work will be carried out in the environment of and collaboration between the Department of Marine Technology, MARINTEK and the Centre of Excellence for Ships and Offshore Structures (CeSOS), which are all located in the premises of the Marine Technology Centre.
The fellowship period for doctoral studies will be 3 years. The annual gross salary for doctoral students will normally be NOK 310 500, but could in special cases be higher, based upon qualifications, and will be increased according to normal salary policy. There is a compulsory 2 % deduction to the pension fund.
NTNU – Innovation and Creativity
